Rolls-Royce has named Andreas Schell, former digital strategy vice president at United Technologies Corp.‘s aerospace systems segment, to succeed Ulrich Dohle as CEO of the Rolls-Royce Power Systems unit.
Schell will work with Dohle on the transition into the new role that takes effect Jan. 1, 2017, Rolls-Royce said Nov. 2.
“[Schell] has a thorough understanding of product and market development and a passion for outstanding engineering and operational excellence,” said Rolls-Royce CEO Warren East.
“He also understands the challenges and opportunities that are presented by digital technologies and techniques,” East added.
Schell’s seven-year career at UTC includes roles such as VP of engineering for aerospace power systems, president of electric systems and president of actuation and propeller systems.
He oversaw the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge product as a former VP of electrical and electronics core engineering at Chrysler and also managed the hybrid development, fuel cell systems and vehicle engineering at the DaimlerChrysler parent.
