Amazon has pledged at least $7 million in funds for 10,000Â service members, veterans and military spouses to participate in its Amazon Web Services training program.
The company will offer cloud computing training services in an effort to assist veterans in their transition to the civilian workforce as well as develop skills to meet job requirements in the field, AWS said Thursday.
AWSÂ added that the move is in support of the Joining Forces initiative, which calls for industry partners to support service members and their families in their careers.
The company will also provide free membership to AWS Educate and its cloud-based resources, access to more than 90 AWS service and certification-preparation laboratories as well as eligibility for reimbursement on the AWS certification exam from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Amazon also said that it looks to hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses within the next five years and train 25 wounded warfighters at AWS boot camps to handle roles at commercial cloud computing companies.
