Linda Hudson, chairman and CEO of The Cardea Group, and former U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Elaine Chao have been elected to Ingersoll-Rand‘s board of directors.
Hudson will serve on the board’s audit and finance committee while Chao will work with the compensation and corporate governance and nominating committees, Ingersoll-Rand said Thursday.
Before she joined Cardea, Hudson led BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary as president and CEO from 2009 to 2014 and served as president of General Dynamics‘ armament and technical products business.
She is also a board member at Bank of America and Southern Co., the University of Florida Foundation, the University of Florida Engineering Leadership Institute and the Center for a New American Security.
Chao served as labor secretary from 2001 to 2009, a distinguished fellow at The Heritage Foundation from 2009 to 2014, and president and CEO of United Way of America from 1992 to 1996.
She also held leadership positions at the U.S. Transportation Department, the Peace Corps and the Federal Maritime Commission.
She currently is the chairwoman of the Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Foundation and works in a director role at News Corp., Vulcan Materials and Wells Fargo.
