Jane Holl Lute, a former deputy secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, has been appointed to succeed the retiring William Pelgrin as president and CEO of the Center for Internet Security.
CIS said May 20 Pelgrin was scheduled to retire May 31 and will continue to serve as a board member for the nonprofit organization.
Pelgrin has launched efforts to improve cybersecurity policies and response for the past two decades and played a role in the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center’s formation.
Lute is also a former president and CEO for the Council on Cybersecurity and special adviser to the United Nations secretary general.
Steven Spano, a former general manager at Amazon Web Services, has been appointed CIS president and chief operating officer.
Spano served for five years as general manager of defense and national security for Amazon Web Services’Â worldwide public sector business.
The retired Air Force brigadier general led a number of information technology operations and policy groups during his military career.
