ICF International is set to sponsor a new speaker series as part of a longstanding cooperation agreement with George Washington University.
The panel discussions, which will start on Jan. 21, will focus on federal health issues and programs and their impact on the public and private sectors, education and industry, ICF said Friday.
The first panel on obesity prevention in the workplace will be composed of speakers from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins Univesity, the National Business Group on Health and the National Institutes of Health.
“The panel will discuss research that addresses the economic and health benefit of worksite initiatives, including ways to improve their effectiveness for obesity prevention and control,†said Dr. Nicola Dawkins-Lyn, vice president for community health at ICF International.
The company said future research topics would include bio-informatics, public health preparedness and genomics.
Tom Russo, assistant vice president for industry research at George Washington University, sees the panel discussions further expanding the school’s relationship with ICF.
“This broad-based collaboration between GW and ICF is a great model for how industry and academia can combine their strengths to resolve the interdisciplinary approach needed to meet today’s challenges,†said Russo.
