Robert Carey serves as vice president and general manager for the public sector cybersecurity business at Computer Sciences Corp.
He joined the company in April after a 32-year government career that concluded with three-and-a-half years of work as principal chief information officer at the U.S. Defense Department.
Carey also led eBusiness and smart card programs at the Department of the Navy, became the agency’s deputy CIO in June 2003 and served its CIO from November 2006 to September 2010.
He also held leadership and engineering roles within the Naval Sea Systems Command, where he oversaw anti-submarine/undersea warfare missions.
Prior to NAVSEA, he directed testing of small arms, automatic weapons and ammunition at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
Carey served in active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Desert Shield/Storm in the Middle East and retired as a Navy Reserve captain.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in engineering management from George Washington University.
