Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chief Kathryn Sullivan will discuss economic and technological trends in the geographic information system industry at Esri‘s User Conference next week.
Esri said Wednesday that Pritzker will focus on the administration’s efforts to drive economic potential and information transparency through adoption of open data.
Sullivan, who is also commerce undersecretary for oceans and atmosphere, will also speak on the potential of collaboration.
Pritzker has at least 25 years of experience as a civic and business leader before her 2013 appointment as head of the Commerce Department, where she has worked to foster open data to target innovation and economic activity.
Sullivan previously worked on integrated mapping services and other Earth-observation activities as assistant commerce secretary for environmental observation and predictions before she was confirmed to her current role earlier this year.
