William Swanson, chairman of Raytheon‘s board of directors, has been inducted into the U.S. News STEM Leadership Hall of Fame for his work to promote STEM education for future engineers and scientists.
Swanson received his award at the 2014 U.S. News STEM Solutions National Leadership Conference in Washington, Raytheon announced Friday.
“As someone who benefitted from STEM mentorship as a young man, I have tremendous passion for inspiring students to pursue STEM subjects,” said Swanson.
“STEM education is critical to our nation’s competitiveness and position of leadership,” he added.
Other honorees include Prodea Systems Co-Founder and CEO Anousheh Ansari, former Lockheed Martin CEO Norm Augustine and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson.
