The Louis Berger Group is celebrating the 100th birthday of its founder Louis Berger and is also marking the company’s 60th anniversary.
He founded Berger Associates in 1953 as a consulting firm in Harrisburg, Pa. with only 12 employees, the company announced Thursday.
Berger worked to combine modern engineering practices with training to help develop and maintain infrastructure systems in developing countries, the company said.
Fredric Berger, Louis Berger Group chairman and Berger’s son, his father’s goal as an engineer was to understand communities where he worked.
“In his words, ‘Doing good engineering is not enough; we need to eliminate the need for us to perform the same thing a second time.’ Celebrating his 100th birthday allows us to remember his leadership, inspiration and passion,” Fredric Berger said.
