Northrop Subsidiary Reviews Design of Radar Antenna Reflector for US-India Imaging Satellite - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNorthrop Grumman‘s Astro Aerospace subsidiary has performed a critical design review of the AstroMesh radar antenna reflector being developed for a joint imaging satellite of NASA and India’s space agency.

AstroMesh will serve as a deployable mesh reflector for the large aperture antenna of the NASA-Indian Space Research Organization Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite, Northrop said Monday.

The reflector is designed to support high-frequency communications and radar operations.

NISAR is scheduled for a 2021 launch and will work to measure the causes and effects of land surface changes on Earth to inform efforts to manage resources and address global change.

Astro Aerospace won a contract from NASA in 2015 to build and integrate AstroMesh into the satellite and expects to move forward to the production of the reflector technology soon.

Northrop previously delivered an AstroMesh antenna for NASA’s Soil Moisture Active Passive satellite.
