Leonardo has inked a contract with the U.K. ministry of defense to deliver equipment that can help simulate radar threats to the U.K. air force’s A400M transport aircraft prior to launch.
The company said Sunday the simulations will help commanders implement defensive aids suites that can help the A400M aircraft function properly during its flight and help operators make evidence-based decisions during missions in hostile territory.
U.K.’s MOD has acquired one full system and Leonardo anticipates additional orders to be issued as the air force’s fleet size expands.
Leonardo’s equipment will also look to de-risk and cut costs of flight trials by conducting test activities on the ground.
The company’s equipment also features a capability assurance technology currently in service with the U.K.’s C130J, Chinook, Merlin, Tornado, Typhoon and Wildcat aircraft.
