Rockwell Collins has finished integration of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast Out software on three aircraft platforms for the Naval Air Systems Command.
The company said Monday it integrated the software on NAVAIR’s C-2A, E2-C and P-3C platforms in an effort to help the command meet the federal government’s ADS-B Out requirements set to take effect by the end of 2019.
“The mandates are quickly approaching and we’re enabling the P-3 community to achieve compliance,†said Dave Schreck, vice president and general manager of Rockwell Collins’ airborne solutions business.
The initial ADS-B Out platform underwent flight tests and received production-ready status without any modifications.
Rockwell Collins aims to receive other technology certifications to install similar transponder devices on C-130 and C-5 platforms.
