General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business has announced the inclusion of five additional companies to an industry team that will support Australia’s Project Air 7003 that seeks to build a medium-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft platform.
Rockwell Collins‘ Australian arm, Airspeed, Ultra Electronics Australia, Quickstep Holdings and TAE Aerospace have joined Team Reaper Australia, General Atomics said Wednesday.
Linden Blue, CEO of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, said the industry team seeks to reflect the partnership with Australian companies and efforts to provide an RPA platform for the country’s defense force.
Rockwell Collins Australia will offer mission systems platforms to the team, while Airspeed will provide reconfigurable aerial equipment pods designed to accommodate payloads aboard the Reaper platform.
Quickstep and Ultra Electronics will respectively supply aerospace composites and sensors produced in Australia, while TAE Aerospace will share to the industry team its experience as a provider of gas turbine engine maintenance, repair and operations services.
The expansion came months after GA-ASI formed the team with Cobham, Flight Data Systems and the Australian businesses of Raytheon and CAE in February.
