Unisys has landed a potential two-year, $12.6 million contract from the General Services Administration to build and implement applications and systems for GSA’s Public Buildings Service organization.
Unisys said Monday it aims to help PBS adopt a DevOps software development model and work closely with software developers in a push to accelerate the application development system process.
The company noted it will support all applications PBS uses to perform its mission to provide workspaces for the federal government as well as the agency’s building control systems, video surveillance and monitoring systems.
“Our DevOps experience with other government agencies as well as commercial clients can help PBS to more collaboratively and efficiently develop and deploy the systems needed to manage the U.S. federal government’s properties and facilities,” said Casey Coleman, group vice president for federal civilian agencies at Unisys.
Coleman added the company will support PBS through the company’s technical and management experience to help manage the GSA service’s transition to an operational DevOps model.
GSA established the Public Buildings Service to provide workplaces for customer agencies and act as a caretaker to 9,624 federal real estate assets that include 376.9 million square feet of workspace for approximately 1.1 million government employees.
