Construction, engineering A joint venture of Cardno and Amec Foster Wheeler has secured a potential $30 million architect-engineering contract from the U.S. Navy to assess U.S. Marine Corps facilities with a web-based building inspection software.

The Defense Department said Wednesday the Cardno-Amec Foster Wheeler JV will use the BUILDER Sustainment Management System to do inspection work at USMC buildings located in California, Arizona, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Hawaii and Japan through June 2021.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command obligated $5,000 at the time of the award from the Marine Corps’ fiscal 2016 operation and maintenance funds, which the command also plans to use to finance future task orders, DoD added.

The contract was awarded to Cardno-Amec Foster Wheeler JV following a competitive procurement process through the Navy’s e-commerce website with four proposals submitted.

BUILDER SMS is designed to download real property data as well as to identify building components and life-cycle features such as the age and materials of a facility.
