NavyC5ISRRaytheon has received a potential five-year, $49.8 million contract to operate and sustain persistent surveillance and dissemination system of systems for the U.S. Army.

The company will carry out the contract work through July 1, 2020, at locations to be determined with each task order, the Defense Department said Thursday.

The surveillance system is designed to be configured with unmanned aerial vehicles, aerostats and ground-based sensors in order to help counter threats through instant response and multi-level integration.
