The Department of Homeland Security is asking industry for concepts to help build a cybersecurity incident database that would be available to public and private sector organizations, Nextgov reported Monday.
Mohana Ravindranath writes that DHS will collect ideas for the database through May as the department works to outline what it views as potential benefits, obstacles and data points that could be contributed to the development process.
Ravindranath noted that DHS also wants descriptions of data points associated with cyber incidents and types of analysis that could help create the database.
Nextgov added that DHS believes the database could help agencies predict cyber threats and give businesses information to compare their cyber practices with competitors.
