KBR has received a $476 million base operations support contract from Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command to continue its services for the U.S. Navy’s Camp Lemonnier and Chabelley Airfield in Djibouti.

NAVFAC Support

Since 2013, the company has been working with NAVFAC to support base operations in Djibouti, allowing the Horn of Africa task force to carry out their mission, Byron Bright, KBR’s chief operating officer and six-time Wash100 awardee, said in a company statement issued Tuesday.

“We’re proud to continue supporting NAVFAC under the new Djibouti BOS contract, and we’re grateful to serve as ‘The Team Behind the Mission’ to over 50 U.S. military installations and sites around the globe,” KBR’s COO remarked.

BOS Contract Scope

The services that KBR will provide under the firm fixed price contract include facility operations and maintenance, such as power generation, food and water supply, housing, security, and fire and emergency services. The contract starts this November and winds down in May 2034.

KBR Work With the U.S. Military

KBR earlier secured a potential five-year, $75 million U.S. Navy contract in August 2020 to support construction projects at Camp Lemonnier and Chabelley Air Field. Work on the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is expected for completion by this September.

Besides its work commitments at the Djibouti bases, KBR also provides similar services to the Navy’s facilities in Bahrain, Diego Garcia and the United Arab Emirates. In addition, the company has booked service contracts for U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force facilities in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as North America.
