Microsoft‘s Azure Government cloud platform has collaborated with VMWare to form the new Azure VMware Solution, an infrastructure-as-a-service private cloud.
Azure VMware was launched on Tuesday in an effort to facilitate cloud migration of mission-critical workloads for government users, said Brett Tanzer, vice president of product management at Microsoft.
The unified platform is meant to enable the use of Azure’s App Service, Kubernetes Service and Traffic Manager for workload modernization. The same environment offers access to VMware’s vSphere, HCX, NSX-T and vSAN applications for data migration.
Azure VMware is also inclusive of security applications such as end-to-end encryption capability, customer-managed keys, and threat detection.
