GreyNoise Intelligence has entered into an agreement with the Defense Innovation Unit to help the Department of Defense explore scan and attack activities across the internet.Â
GreyNoise said Wednesday it will use its offering to mitigate false positives and internet noise in an effort to optimize DOD investigations.
The company will also implement its products into DOD to help the department augment analyst accuracy and lower alert fatigue.
DOD previously worked with GreyNoise to investigate an unknown internet protocol address that attempted to connect with an unspecified system. The partnership discovered that the activity was a scan attempt.
"It's challenging for any organization to make sense of internet-background noise: irrelevant internet-wide activity that contributes to security analyst alert fatigue, employee turnover and lost productivity," said Andrew Morris, CEO at GreyNoise.
He added that the company and DIU both aim to assist analysts in more efficiently completing investigations.
GreyNoise plans to grow its partnership with the DOD unit to promote internet noise awareness to government entities.
