CGI has unveiled a new information technology delivery center in Knoxville, Tennessee, as part of efforts to create 300 jobs in the area by 2026.
"We are proud to announce the establishment of a new IT delivery center in Knoxville that will create local jobs, engage regional educators, support area workforce development, and provide opportunities for the community's students, graduates and professionals," Dave Henderson, president of U.S. commercial and state government operations at CGI, said in a statement published Friday.
"After a competitive and wide-ranging search, CGI selected Knoxville based on a number of factors – most notably access to talent and a strong culture of innovation within the Knoxville area and the state of Tennessee,†he added.
CGI announced Knoxville as the eighth IT delivery center after performing a site-selection process for two years. The Knoxville facility will join the company’s network of U.S. IT delivery centers that provide government and commercial industry customers access to IT platforms and services. The company has 1,700 employees at seven delivery centers located in Belton, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; Lebanon, Virginia; Mobile and Troy, Alabama; Waterville, Maine; and Wausau, Wisconsin.
Starting in March, CGI will kick off the hiring process for candidates with business analytics, software development and other tech skills and work with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to engage with students and establish a talent pipeline in the areas of cybersecurity, digital transformation and analytics in support of the new IT delivery center.
