Clinton Crosier, director of Aerospace and Satellite Solutions at Amazon Web Services, said AWS is providing ground stations to help companies and government clients process and analyze satellite-derived data and transmit information in minutes, SpaceNews reported Tuesday.
“AWS is moving into space in a very big way,†Crosier, a retired U.S. Air Force major general who helped establish the U.S. Space Force, said Tuesday at the 2021 SmallSat Symposium.
He mentioned BlackSky, Iceye, Capella Space, Fireball International and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as some of AWS customers that use cloud and ground stations to process data from satellites.
“We’re trying to help customers take advantage of the cloud’s competitive advantage,†he added.
