Lockheed Martin’s space business has released a new app that allows individuals to set and visualize different arrangements of a satellite constellation surrounding Earth, Air Force Magazine reported Monday.
The Constellations app, available for free in Apple’s App Store, generates a visual representation of the constellation’s appearance based on the user’s control input.
The app’s controls allow users to manipulate factors that determine the design of a constellation, such as orbital altitude, satellite operational life and constellation service life.
Erik Daehler, director of business development for commercial communications and remote sensing at Lockheed, said the app is designed to be used by non-technical personnel with no space engineering background.
