SpaceX and NASA plan to test the Crew Dragon spacecraft by sending two astronauts to the International Space Station this May.

The Demonstration Mission 2, or Demo-2, trial will determine the spacecraft’s eligibility to facilitate crewed flights between Earth and the ISS under the Commercial Crew Program, NASA said Thursday.

Demo-2 will assess Dragon 2’s performance across all phases of ISS travel, from launch to recovery.

The spacecraft will launch on the Falcon 9 rocket from Florida-based Kennedy Space Center with astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.

NASA is accepting media accreditation applications for the demonstration launch.
