Todd Gustafson, president of HP's federal arm, has said government organizations need to recognize security issues in endpoint devices that are connected to a mobile federal workforce and implement protective measures to avoid a cyberattack.
He wrote in a guest piece for FedTech Magazine published Wednesday a comprehensive audit would help agencies to determine the device type, location and security of security.
Agencies should not procure and allow an endpoint device to operate with the nextwork unless it is secure to use, according to Gustafson.
The HP executive urged agenices to incorporate threat monitoring automation, attack detection and remediation and configuration maintenance approaches security protocols.
"Whatever approach an organization takes, it must accept the need for change and embrace the idea that every technology decision is a security decision," he added.
