Peraton to Help Update NOAA GOES-R Satellite Ground Infrastructure; Roger Mason Quoted

Peraton has received a three-year, $54M contract to assist Harris in updating the ground computing infrastructure for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite–R series.

Harris will lead the modernization of GOES-R information technology systems on ground under a potential $284M contract NOAA awarded earlier this month.

Peraton said Tuesday it will develop a mission management baseline and continue to manage the ground system enterprise as well as maintain computing infrastructure at facilities located in Maryland, Florida and West Virginia.

“GOES-R Series satellites deliver imagery, atmospheric measurements, and space environment monitoring of the Western Hemisphere to predict severe weather events and observe real-time weather impacts, helping avert life and property loss," said Roger Mason, president of Peraton's space, intelligence and cyber group.

The company built the current baseline of the weather satellite using the OS/COMET platform designed for constellation and ground system management.

According to Peraton, the latest award brings the total value of its contract services under the GOES-R program to $200M.
