The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to procure Hewlett Packard Enterprise servers through a firm-fixed-price delivery order under NASA's Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement V contract to support modernization of the VA electronic health records system.
In a FedBizOpps notice posted Monday, the VA said it found during market research that only HPE has the capability to provide the required hardware that can also integrate with an existing infrastructure.
Cerner secured a potential $10B contract in May last year to help the department implement the same EHR platform used by the Deparment of the Defense.
The VA is buying a pair of fully-populated HPE Synergy frames in a move to expand and increase the performance of the Veterans Health Information System Technology Architecture eXtract system that support 130 medical centers via the Austin Information Technology Center.
Additionally, the department seeks computing resources for its Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization to migrate data to the new platform.
