The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory has secured the Building Congress and Exchange’s Craftsmanship Award in recognition of its upgrade work on a computer networking facility.
APL said Thursday the award seeks to acknowledge individuals and construction projects based on design and technical complexity, quality of work, timeframe and difficulty with site conditions.
The Building Congress and Exchange specifically recognized APL’s aysmmetric operations sector and business, communications and facilities department in the power generation, distribution and switchgear category for the modernization of the lab’s Net Center Server Room.
The room was built to serve as the APL Comms Central’s information technology and communications hub, which has network controllers, switching fabric, cooling, power, racks and other IT components that AOS uses to support communications programs.
