A new Albuquerque, N.M.-based defense company founded by former Raytheon employees has begun to design and produce technology platforms for counter-drone operations and satellite communications, Albuquerque Business First reported Friday.
Established in June 2018, Raven Defense occupies a 5K-square-foot office in New Mexico and plans to lease more space as the company works on radio frequency-based platforms and builds up its hiring pipeline through the University of New Mexico's workforce training program and COSMIAC research center.
Chris Patscheck, CEO of Raven Defense, said the New Mexico-based startup has begun to work with Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and other contractors.
Michael Robson, chief technology officer and co-director at Raven Defense, said the company is largely backed by DoD, which requested $9.39B in fiscal 2019 budget for aerial drones and related technologies.
