Iridium Communications CEO Matt Desch told CNBC in a video interview aired Friday that the company has a new satellite network in low-Earth orbit and considers internet of things as a “high-growth area.”
“We have brand-new satellites that are in space. We got a bunch of revenue streams that will propel our growth in the coming years,†Desch said on the channel’s Squawk Box program.
His remarks came a month after he announced the company’s plan to launch on Dec. 30 the final batch of 10 Iridium NEXT satellites to complete the L-band network that will deliver Iridium Certus-backed broadband and IoT services to customers.
Desch, a four-time Wash100 awardee, told CNBC how Iridium supports the aviation sector, especially in providing operational communications in the aircraft’s cockpit, and delivers satellite communications to approximately 85 percent of the world’s surface compared with cellular coverage.
He also shared his insights on the investment community.
