David Shedd, a government service veteran with nearly 33 years of intelligence and national security experience, has been elected as chairman of Draper’s board of directors.

He has served as a board member at Draper over the past three years and succeeds Franklin Miller, who held the chairman role for the past five years, the nonprofit research and development company said Wednesday.

Shedd previously served as deputy and acting director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and held senior leadership positions at the CIA, National Security Council and U.S. embassies in Costa Rica and Mexico.

He has worked as a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation since he left the federal government in 2015.

Cambridge, Mass.-based Draper works with government, academic and commercial organizations to design, build and implement technology platforms.
