Unisys to Build Cloud-Based IT Platform for Kansas Executive Branch; Michael Morrison Quoted

Unisys has won a potential $40M contract to help Kansas’ executive branch manage information technology operations with a hybrid cloud platform.

The company said Wednesday it will build an IT infrastructure for state government personnel to access cloud services from Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.

Michael Morrison, vice president and general manager of Unisys operations in the U.S. and Canada, said the company aims to help Kansas agencies implement new tools through the use of a shared services delivery approach.

The contract has 62 months plus two one-year options and calls for the company to manage the state’s computing and data storage system.

Unisys will also support efforts to deploy, refresh and troubleshoot IT systems, as well as support data center and network security, audit, server management, disaster recovery and compliance efforts.

Kansas intends to maintain responsibility for application development work.

The company noted it will implement a pricing method that will allow state agencies to pay according to the utilization of services they acquire.
