Janus Disarms Explosives at Main Road in Iraq - top government contractors - best government contracting eventJanus Global Operations has helped Iraq’s security forces clear a main road near Baghdad of approximately 400 pounds of improvised explosive devices buried across six sites.

The company said Friday it used an unmanned aerial vehicle to locate the sites and demining experts worked to neutralize the IEDs discovered within a 100-meter area of the main road that links Fallujah and Amariyah communities.

Some of the identified IEDs include an explosive with three charges placed in fuel cans; a fragmentation charge; and five artillery shells.

Janus Global said the insurgents wired and linked the IEDs to a house located approximately 250 meters away from the road in order to facilitate remote detonation.

The company performed the IED clearing operation on behalf of the State Department’s office of weapons removal and abatement.
