Charles River Analytics has developed a tool for the U.S. Navy to predict environmental conditions and interpret weather forecast data the service branch can use for mission planning.
CRA said Monday it collaborated with Clear Science and the University of Miami to create the COMPASS technology designed to measure the probability of conditions differing from statistical averages or mission benchmarks.
The machine learning-based tool works by collating multiple predictions from various modeling centers to generate a unified forecast for a specific region and time period.
COMPASS features a mission-specific user interface for mission planners to visualize data and compare multiple forecasts, CRA added.
