Lockheed Martin‘s Skunk Works business unit and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency conducted flight tests that aimed to demonstrate integrated operation between air, space, land, sea and cyber platforms in austere environments.
The company said Friday the system of systems-based demonstrations took place in China Lake, Calif., and consisted of C-12 and flight test aircraft, a flying test bed, a ground station and the STITCHES integration tool.
Skunk Works and DARPA also made use of the Enterprise Open System Architecture Mission Computer Version 2, which works to provide security between systems.
The tests demonstrated automatic message transmission between systems, use of a non-enterprise data link for in-flight information exchanges, linking of ground-based simulators with aircraft systems and integration between the APG-81 radar and DARPA’s Automatic Target Recognition software.
The effort supports DARPA’s five-year System of Systems Integration Technology and Experimentation program.
