The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration opened a second round of request for proposals for commercial satellite data to help enhance weather forecast models, SpaceNews reported Monday.
The second round of solicitation for NOAA’s Commercial Weather Data Pilot program seeks companies that can provide a minimum of two periods of global positioning system radio occultation data and at least 500 daily atmospheric soundings recorded within three consecutive months, the publication detailed.
RFP’s where issued on April 25th and NOAA will accept proposals until May 25th, the publication said.
The selected companies will perform work from Aug. 27 through September 2019 and provide data every week with a final delivery by June 2019, SpaceNews noted.
