Raytheon broke ground Friday on its new facility at California’s Ontario International Airport that will house a company-built testbed aircraft.
The hangar is scheduled to be completed later this year and will serve as the station of the RMT airborne test and evaluation platform, Raytheon said Friday.
RMT is a modified version of Boeing‘s 727 airliner and designed to help the company evaluate radars, electro-optical and infra-red sensors and avionics.
The defense contractor looks to employ 25 full-time personnel and up to 50 project-based workers at the facility.
Representatives from Raytheon and the Ontario International Airport Authority attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the company’s hangar.
