Boeing will lead a team of 10 aerospace technology suppliers in pursuit of a nearly $5 billion contract to build heavy-lift helicopters for the German military, Reuters reported Wednesday.
Michael Hostetter, director of Boeing’s vertical lift programs in Germany, told reporters at a Berlin airshow the company can potentially add partners to join its bidding team depending on the country’s helicopter procurement requirements.
The report said Hostetter expects the German government to issue a request for proposals later this year or in early 2019.
He told Reuters the Chicago-based contractor looks to offer a foxtrot or an extended-range variant of the H-47 Chinook multirole platform.
