Melvin Greer, chief data scientist for Intel’s public sector, has said developers of artificial intelligence platforms should follow an ethical standard when it comes to programming behavior in order to prevent AI technologies from being weaponized, Bisnow reported Wednesday.
“The brake has to be applied by humans,†Greer said Tuesday during a panel discussion at Bisnow’s Southeast data centers conference.
“What does it mean to have machines that think on our behalf?,†he added.
Panel members also discussed AI’s impact on health care and how the adoption of the technology could drive the demand for analytics and data centers.
Other executives who took part in the panel discussion include Missy Young, chief information officer at data center operator Switch; Calvin Lawrence, chief technology officer for cognitive and analytics solutions at IBM; and David McCall, a director at QTS.
