CAE‘s U.S. subsidiary has received a foreign military sales contract from the U.S. Navy to build a training system for the Brazilian navy’s S-70B Seahawk helicopter crew.
The company said Wednesday it intends to produce a fixed-base operational flight trainer and weapons tactics trainer that can function independently or operate together as a tactical operational flight training platform.
S-70B OFT will be designed for pilot training and built with a flight simulator that employs CAE’s Medallion-6000 image generator and an architecture compliant with the Open Geospatial Consortium’s Common DataBase.
The system will help train Brazilian navy pilots and co-pilots to handle different mission scenarios that include normal and emergency procedures on board the helicopter.
S-70B WTT will be built to prepare back-end sensor operators and airborne tactics officers for anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.
The company noted it will deliver the comprehensive training system to a naval air base near Rio de Janeiro.
