John Campbell, a retired U.S. Army general, has been named chairman of a SAP National Security Services-backed nonprofit organization.
He will succeed Joseph Kernan, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral who was confirmed by the Senate as defense undersecretary for intelligence in November, as chairman of NS2 Serves, the nonprofit organization said Wednesday.
Campbell will oversee NS2 Serves’ efforts to train and transition military retirees to civilian employment and technology roles.
He retired from the Army in May 2016 as commander of NATO forces for the International Security Assistance Force/Resolute Support Mission.
During his 37-year military career, Campbell previously served as head of the U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, vice chief of staff of the Army and deputy chief of staff for operations.
NS2 Serves started Monday, Feb. 19, the spring session for a new class of 20 veterans at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia, and has offered training and employment assistance to at least 160 retirees to date.
Mark Testoni, SAP NS2 president and CEO and a 2018 Wash100 inductee, founded NS2 Serves to offer employment and training support to post-9/11 military veterans and reservists.
