BAE Systems has completed a dive test of the fourth attack submarine of the U.K. Navy’s Astute class.
The company said Monday it tested Audacious‘ systems while under water for two days at Devonshire Dock in Barrow-in-Furness, England.
Royal Navy Capt. Scott Bower, commanding officer of Audacious, along with the submarine’s crew worked with BAE personnel to conduct the test.
The 8,157-ton submarine is scheduled to leave the company’s Barrow facility later this year to undergo sea trials.
BAE also constructed the Astute-class HMS Astute, HMS Artful and HMS Ambush submarines currently in service with the British navy.
Three more submarines of the same class are under construction at the Barrow facility.
