The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $17.5 million contract modification for engineering sustainment work on the service branch’s KC-135 tanker aircraft weapon system.
The Defense Department said Friday the modification will establish negotiated prices under the second option of a previously awarded contract for the company to sustain KC-135 airframe along with mechanical and electrical systems, subsystems and components.
Work under the exercised option will occur through Sept. 13, 2019 at contractor facilities in Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas.
KC-135, also called the Stratotanker, has supported aerial refueling missions of U.S. military and allied nations over the past 50 years.
