BAE Systems has introduced a new variant of its CV90 infantry fighting vehicle at the International Armored Vehicles Conference in London.
CV90 MkIVÂ is designed to feature a Scania-built engine with up to 1,000 horsepower, updated drive train capacities along with active damping technology built to help increase speed and handling in the battlefield, BAE Systems said Wednesday.
The MkIV variant will also employ the latest NATO-standard electronic architecture meant to address sensor integration and autonomous system implementation requirements.
“The MkIV will now be available to both current and future users of the CV90,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, vice president and general manager of BAE’s Hagglunds business.
BAE plans to sell the CV90 MkIV offering to the Czech Republic as part of an ongoing armored vehicle competition that seeks to replace the country’s current BMP-II IFV platform.
The company also incorporated its iFighting concept into the new variant as part of efforts to help increase situational awareness capacity for vehicle crew members.
