A small satellite built by Maxar Technologies‘ SSL subsidiary for Telesat has been delivered to the Vostochny Cosmodrome launch base in Eastern Russia ahead of its scheduled late November launch aboard a Soyuz-2 rocket.
SSL said the satellite will be one of two Phase 1 spacecraft that will help Telesat test the key performance parameters of its future low Earth orbit constellation.
Telesat’s LEO satellite constellation will work to deliver fiber-like broadband connectivity to business, government and individual users worldwide.
SSL teamed up with the Space Flight Laboratory of Toronto, Canada to build the satellite and manage launch base mission operations.
Two Telesat geostationary satellites are currently in production at SSL’s Palo Alto, California-based facility.
