Boeing has pledged to provide more than $50 million in grants to approximately 500 nonprofit organizations across 50 countries.
The grants package will fund initiatives through 2018 and will augment Boeing’s expected $117 million in company and employee contributions to other charitable causes, the company said Thursday.
The new investments will bring the company’s total community contributions in 2017 to approximately $167 million.
Boeing added that the package includes $25 million for veterans’ recovery programs and transition services as well as funds for efforts to develop individuals’ technology skills.
Some of the biggest grants will go to FIRST Robotics and its science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs; USO Pathfinder and its military transition services; and the National Fund for Workforce Solutions through its on-the-job training program for manufacturing.
International grant recipients include the Learning Links Foundation that trains India’s future aviation workers; the Ladies Learning Code organization that promotes skill development among children and adults in Canada; and the Newton International institution that provides aerospace education to children across Europe.
