Seven Mitre employees have received recognition from the Women of Color magazine for their contributions to the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The nonprofit said Tuesday the awards were presented at the two-day 2017 Women of Color STEM Conference that kicked off on Friday in Detroit, Michigan.
The conference honors multicultural women across U.S. for their technical achievements, leadership and efforts to promote science and technical careers among young women.
“On behalf of Mitre, I am proud to recognize these seven amazing MITRE women who have made outstanding contributions in the STEM field,” said Julie Gravallese, Mitre vice president and chief human resources officer.
“Their technical and workplace achievements have a direct and positive impact on the work we do with our government sponsors, and their dedication in developing the next generation of STEM professionals is inspiring,” Gravallese added.
Mitre’s Michelle Pu, Indira Semwal and Tomeka Williams received the Technology All-Stars award that recognizes women who excel in the workplace and in their communities.
Eldesia Granger and Monique Exum accepted the Technology Rising Stars recognition that honors the technology contribution of women with less than 22 years of service.
The magazine also recognized Shuo Chen for her effort to address aviation problems through speech recognition as well as Jaya Tripathi for her use of analytics and mathematical tools to help combat prescription drug fraud and provide new care models for veterans.
