Progeny Systems has received a $749,928 grant from the Department of Homeland Security‘s science and technology directorate to craft a framework to secure mobile application development and deployment processes.
DHS said Wednesday Progeny will collaborate with Microsoft‘s Xamarin subsidiary to produce the framework for enterprise organizations to safeguard iOS, Windows and Android mobile applications.
“This project will help ensure the apps loaded on our cell phones are free of vulnerable code and therefore safe to use,” said Douglas Maughan, director of S&T’s cybersecurity division.
The framework will be developed to comply with security standards such as the National Information Assurance Partnership Protection Profile and Open Web Application Software Project Top 10.
S&T awarded the grant through the Other Agencies Technology Solutions program under DHS’ Small Business Innovation Research program.
