The Defense Department said Friday Electric Boat will furnish, fabricate or acquire materials, supplies and support services necessary to manage reactor plant planning and support yard functions.

The Navy allocated $10.9 million in fiscal 2017 other procurement and fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance funds at the time of award.

DoD noted that $5.9 million of the total obligated funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Ninety percent of work will occur in Groton, Connecticut, and the remaining 10 percent in Charleston, South Carolina.

Electric Boat is scheduled to finish work under the exercised option in September 2018.
