Ameresco has constructed a solar array system for the Environmental Protection Agency as part of an energy savings performance contract the Defense Logistics Agency‘s energy unit awarded in January.
EPA said Wednesday it installed the Ameresco-built 4,788 photovoltaic panels at the agency’s Edison, New Jersey, campus.
The system is designed to generate up to 1.5 megawatts of electric power and projected to produce 2 million kilowatt hours of electricity during the first year of operation.
Pete Lopez, administrator f EPA Region 2, said the agency offers expert advice, tools and technical support to renewable energy projects through the Green Power Program.
